Before You Begin
These instructions are for installing a fire screen on a masonry fireplace. Carefully remove the components of the fire screen and installation hardware and check them against the parts list supplied in the carton. Then remove the blue or clear protective film from all visible finished surfaces. Be careful handling the sharp and glass edges of the components. Let the pieces warm to room temperature and if necessary, use a utility knife, pin or sharp object to lightly score and release the film.
Step 1 : Install the fire screen on the fireplace opening
With the door panels fully open, place the fire screen against the fireplace. Determine the position of the lintel bar relative to the slotted brackets on the back of the door frame. Assemble the key bracket to the lintel clamp with the machine screw and thread the thumb screw into the lintel clamp. Install the remaining slotted bracket hardware on both sides of the back of the fire screen.
Step 2 : Fasten the fire screen to the lintel
Working with a helper, center hold the fire screen tightly against the fireplace opening. Reach inside and slide the key bracket and lintel clamp back or forth until the front lip of the lintel clamp is firmly against the lintel. Tighten the machine screw and thumbscrew on both sides. Tighten the thumbscrews in the pressure brackets on both sides.
Step 3 : Adjust the door panels
There are four door panel hinges designed to be adjusted and aligned. To adjust, open the panels and rigid mesh screen panel and lift to remove them. Reach inside and loosen the door panel hinge screws, but do not remove them.
Slide the door panels hinges left or right until the space between the center of the door panel is even. Then return the door panels to their original position maintaining the hinge position and tighten the screws.
