  • Step 1 : Prepare the surface

Remove any weeds surrounding the patio and use a shop vacuum to pick up loose cement or dirt from the surface of the patio.

  • Step 2 : Lay out the tiles

Use the 24-inch square deck tiles to plan the layout of the tiles. If you plan to edge the patio with 1-by-6-foot or larger lumber allow for its width around the perimeter of the patio. If ground cover or plants surround the deck lay out tiles so they cover the old patio surface.

  • Step 3 : Install the tiles

You can secure the deck tiles to the cement patio with construction adhesive or place them loosely on top of it.

  • Step 4 : Cut the tiles to fit

When a tile needs to be cut to fit, use a carpenter's square and a hand saw to make straight cuts.
