  • Step 1 : Mark the location

    Mark the location

Mark a line 1/8-inch above and parallel to the window trim. To find the center of the window, measure the width and divide it by two. Mark the center measurement above the window.

  • Step 2 : Align and fasten the sunburst above the window

    Align and fasten the sunburst

Place the bottom edge of the base on the horizontal line drawn above the window. Make sure that the bottom edge of the base is 1/8-inch above the highest edge of the window.

Center the base by lining up the mark on the Sunburst Base with the vertical line above the window. Use siding nails to fasten the base to the wall but do not secure it tightly because the base needs freedom to expand and contract with temperature changes.

  • Step 3 : Cut the mantel to size

    Cut the mantel to size

From the alignment mark on the Sunburst Base measure to the edge of the window. Then starting from the right cover, transfer the dimension to the corner assembly and cut the mantle at this dimension. Repeat on the left side of the base.
